Business Development Manager - Wastewater infrastructure


Our client is a leader in design, construction and operation of lower-energy wastewater treatment solutions for sewage, PFAS contamination, industrial wastewater, leachate, mining/resources and integrated water. The company has an exciting future through implementing innovating approaches to wastewater treatment. Clients include recognised water authorities, local councils and private clients nationally.


This role will suit an experienced and accomplished business development professional motivated by closing multi-million dollar deals with sophisticated customers. You will be supported by technical resources in process and civil engineering and ecology as part of the sales process for the submission of proposals and public tenders.

The Senior Business Development Manager will lead and drive activities required to win contracts. You will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships of all levels of seniority with current and prospective clients within the water and wastewater industry.

Experience required

The successful candidate will ideally display the following qualifications, skills and experience:
  • Motivated by negotiating and closing multi-million dollar contracts
  • Actively display the techniques of finding new opportunities
  • Excel in the challenge of complex sales
  • Experienced in identify opportunities and working them to contract execution
  • Experienced in securing contracts with local & state governments, state government authorities and private corporations
  • Able to priorities resources to maximise the success rate of securing contracts
  • Back your ability and be motivated by performance-based incentives
  • Experience acting as proposal / tender lead, coordinating proposal inputs across disciplines and varied projects
  • Experience from working in a similar role within an engineering consultancy or contractor ideally in the water / wastewater sectors
  • Proven negotiation and closing skills
  • Knowledge of contract types and negotiating points
  • Tendering and presentation experience
  • Results driven and committed to not only achieving but exceeding targets
  • Opportunity development and management

  • Growth strategies for new markets and geographies
  • Effectively manage and lead the overall business development process from initial customer engagement through successful proposal delivery and closure
  • Maintain an in-depth and current knowledge related to the local industrial sector including market trends, regulatory environment, core competency requirements, and competitors
  • Qualifications in engineering, environment or construction is desired.
